Swechchhasebak League leader, brother killed

A local Swechchhasebak League leader and his younger brother have been chopped to death by unidentified miscreants in Durgapur area of Natore Sadar upazila.

The deceased were identified as Ohidur Rahman, 35, vice-president of Natore Sadar upazila unit of Swechchhasebak League and his brother Shahin Rahman, 30, sons of late Mujibar Rahman of Chakprachi village.

Naogaon Sadar police station Inspector Sumit Sutradhar said: “Ohidur and Shahin were returning home at Chakprachi village from the town around 11:30pm on Sunday.”

When they reached in Durgapur field area near the town, miscreants swooped on them with sharp weapons, leaving both brothers dead on the spot, said the police official.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies, said Naogaon Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Zakirul Islam.

The bodies were sent to Naogaon Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.

Police, in a drive, detained eight people in this connection and they are now being quizzed, Naogaon SP Kaiyumuzzaman Khan told the Dhaka Tribune.

He said drive was underway to arrest the culprits involved in the killing.
