Bangladesh women take on Maldives today

Bangladesh will face Maldives today in a do-or-die Group A encounter in the 3rd Saff Women’s Championship at Jinnah Football Stadium in Islamabad, Pakistan.

While Bangladesh and Maldives defeated Afghanistan 6-1 and 1-0 respectively, both the teams were beaten by India 5-1 and 8-1 respectively.

Hence, Bangladesh have a better goal difference and only a draw will be enough for them to go through to the semifinals alongside defending champions India.

Bangladesh’s Japanese head coach Norio Tsukitate said they will “do their best to win the game” while assistant coach Golam Rabbani Chotton elaborated, “We will give more effort in this match, this is our do-or-die match in order to reach the last four. All the players are physically and mentally ready to give their full effort.”

Bangladesh captain Suinu pru Marma also uttered words of confidence and determination. “Tomorrow’s (today’s) match is very serious and important for us. We will try our best and put up our 100 percent effort to win the match.”
