Sylhet International trade fair to begin on December 3

A month-long international trade fair organised by the Sylhet Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SMCCI) will begin at Shahi Eidgah Maidan in Sylhet city on December 3.

Hasin Ahmed, first vice president of (SMCCI), announced this at a press briefing at its conference hall yesterday.

Some 160 stalls will be set up for displaying products from home and abroad at the fair, he said. 

Traders from Turkey, Thailand, Iran, China and Pakistan have expressed their interests to take part in the fair, he said adding that there will have three separate zones for foreign businessmen.

Hasin said: “We have completed 80 percent preparation works for the fair. Visitors will have to pay Tk10 each for entering the fair ground.”

At the end of the fair, a raffle draw will be held. The first prize winner will get a Tata nano car, he said.

SMCCI vice president Afjal Rashid Choudhury, director Abdul Jabber Jalil, Khairul Hossain, Tahmin Ahmed, Huraira Iffat Hossain, Muhibul Bari Muhit and Anup Kumar Deb, among others, were also present.
