Humayun’s fictional character personified on Himu day

As November 13, birthday of eminent literatteur Humayun Ahmed, is declared as Himu Day, hundreds of youth gathered to personify the most celebrated fictional character created by the writer on the Channel i premises yesterday.

At the Humayun Mela, organised by the channel to mark the 66th birth anniversary of the author, the bare-footed youths in yellow punjabis wandered around aimlessly at the stalls in the fair to reflect the spirit of the fictional character they bear within. Prominent cultural personalities were present on the occasion, including the writer’s widow Meher Afroz Shaon.

Another attraction of the fair was the publication of an anthology containing 10 Himu novels.

It was the third time the channel organised the fair, with the first being held in 2012.

The colourful event also featured music, dance, children art competition and display of Humayun’s diverse works.
