LGED signs deals for constructing bridges in Magura, Jessore

The Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) signed an agreement with a Bangladesh-China joint venture construction firm yesterday to construct two bridges in Magura and Jessore districts.

LGED Executive Engineer of Magura Mirza M Iftekher Ali and Executive Engineer of Jessore Abu M Shahriar signed the two agreements with officials of the construction firm Max Ran Ken (JV) at the LGED Bhaban in the capital.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder and LGED Chief Engineer M Wahidur Rahman were present on the occasion.

The two bridges will be constructed at the cost of Tk138.6 crore under the Upazila and Union Parishad Roads Bridge Construction project of the LGED in two years’ time.

Of the two bridges, Tk59.93 crore has been allocated for building a 600m PC girder bridge over the Modhumoti River at Mohammadpur upazila in Magura, while Tk78.15 crore for constructing a 693m PC girder bridge over the Bhairab River at Abhaynagar upazila in Jessore.

About 250,000 people of the two districts are expected to be benefited once the bridges are constructed.
