Sirajganj 3 by-poll will be held on December 23, to fill the vacancy created with the death on October 6, of MP Md Ishaque Hossain Talukdar, announced the Election Commission yesterday.
According to the schedule, the last date for submitting nominations is November 20.
The commission will scrutinise the nomination papers on November 22 and the last day for withdrawal is November 30.
According to article 123 (4) of the constitution, by-polls must be held to a constituency within 90 days of occurrence of any vacuum.
Consisted of two upazilas – Raiganj and Tarash – the total number of voters in the constituency is 331,336, of whom, 164,539 are male and 166,797 are female voters.
