Two robbers have been killed in a "gunfight" with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel at Aruabaria canal of Chandpai range of Sundarbans.
The deceased were identified as bandit leader Daroga Emdadul and his associate Toufiqul.
RAB 8 Commanding Officer Faridul Alam said: "Acting on a tip off, RAB members surrounded the robbers at Aruabaria canal and asked them to surrender on Tuesday morning.
"But the robbers started firing on the RAB personnel that triggered a gunfight leaving two of the robbers dead on the spot," he added.
