Water Resource and Climate Change specialist Professor Dr Ainun Nishat has been awarded the prestigious Prokriti O Jibon Foundation – Channel i “Nature Conservation Award-2014.”
He has been honoured with the award for his dynamic contribution in the conservation of biodiversity, environment and nature of Bangladesh, said a press release.
Environment and Forests Minister Anwar Hossain Manju and his Deputy M Abdullah Al Islam Jakob were present respectively as the chief and special guest in the award giving ceremony, at Channel i Bhaban on Saturday.
Hasneen Muktadir, director of Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd., handed over a cheque of Tk 100,000 and Dr Sarder A Nayeem, Chairman of Japan-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital has provided certificate of complimentary treatment for life to specialist.
Faridur Reza Sagar, managing director, Impress Telefilm Limited/Channel i; Muqeed Majumdar Babu, chairman, Prokriti O Jibon Foundation and director, Impress Telefilm Limited/Channel i; and country’s renowned environmentalists, nature lovers & intellectuals were among others present in the event.
A video documentary on Prokriti O Jibon Foundation and the Video Biography of Dr Ainun Nishat were shown and cover of the DVD – 2014 of ‘Prokriti O Jibon’ Television Series and the Book – Amar Onek Reen Ache (Written by Muqeed Majumdar Babu, Chairman, Prokriti O Jibon Foundation) have been unveiled in the award giving ceremony.
This award giving ceremony was arranged by “Prokriti O Jibon Foundation” and “Channel i” as part of their commitment to award an individual every year to recognize the work and dedication of the person to the conservation of biodiversity, environment and nature.
