Accused who snatched policeman's gun killed in 'gunfight'

An accused has been killed in a “gunfight” with Detective Branch (DB) of Police at Alekharchar area in Comilla.

Deceased Rabbi, 20, was an accused in a case filed for shooting DB Sub-Inspector Firoz Hossain and snatching his pistol on November 6.

Bablu fired bullets targeting DB officials when his motorcycle knocked with a microbus of the law enforcers at Alekharchar area around 10:30am on Sunday.

In retaliation, DB police fired back that triggered a “gunfight” that left four people, including Assistant Sub-Inspector Nazrul, injured.

DB police Sub-Inspector Shahid said: “Three pistols were recovered from their possession that includes the pistol snatched from SI Firoz.”

DB police Officer-in-Charge Monirul Islam said: “The injured were taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital where Rabbi succumbed to his injuries.

“The other injured criminal Jony is in a critical condition.”
