Police have rescued a girl from a house at Zirani in Ashulia six months after her abduction.
Fatema Akhter Akhi, 14, daughter of Akidul Molla, was found alive at the house of Lokman Mia on Saturday morning.
Police have arrested Mukul in connection with the abduction. The 30-year-old is the son of Mujibur of Bhangura area in Sirajganj.
Akhi, a seventh-grader at a local madrasa, was abducted by a gang in Nabinagar on May 11 while she was on her way to madrasa.
Akidul went to police after he got a call from his daughter three months later. Police began the search operation and took three months to rescue Akhi.
Sub-Inspector of Ahulia police station Jakaria Hossain said Akhi and Mukul were detained at the same time.
“Mukul held her captive for six months and assaulted her,” he said.
A case was filed with the police station in this connection.
