Quoting witnesses, Ashulia police told the Dhaka Tribune that the authorities of Hasong Sweater Factory sacked a total of 216 workers during the Eid vacation. Following the termination, the fellow workers observed work abstantion, demanding reappointment of their colleagues.
In face of the protest, the authorities promised to reappoint the terminated workers by Friday.
On Saturday, the agitated co-workers took to the street and blocked Nabinagar-Tangail Highway as the authorities did not take any decision over the issue.
At one stage of protest, the agitated workers threw brick chips at the building of Palmal Group.
In retaliation, the workers of Palmal Group attacked the workers of Hasong Group, triggering a clash that left 10 people injured on both sides, said the police.
