Depression over Bay

A depression was formed over west central Bay and adjoining East central Bay early yesterday, a Met office bulletin said.

The location of the depression was about 1045km southwest of Chittagong port, 975km southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 950km south southwest of Mongla port and 940 km south southwest of Payra port at 3pm yesterday.

The bulletin said the depression was likely to move in a west-northwesterly direction towards Andhra Pradesh coast.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 44km of the deep depression centre was about 40km/h rising to 50km/h in gusts or squalls, said the bulletin, adding that sea would remain rough near the centre.

The Met office advised to hoist distant cautionary signal number one to all maritime ports Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra.
