Five people were killed in separate road accidents that took place in Gazipur, Gaibandha and Dinajpur yesterdays
Two garments workers have been killed in separate road accidents in Gazipur. The deceased are Sohel Rana, 28, son of Dulal Mia of Tirgachha village in Sheerpur and Rezaul Hoque, 40, son of late Samsul Hoque of Gopalpur village in Jhenaidah.
Naojor highway police outpost Sub-Inspector Mizanur Rahman said: “A bus of Basumoti Paribahan rammed Rezaul at Borobari area around 8am, killing him on the spot.”
“On the other hand, Sohel died when an unidentified vehicle ran over him in Targachha area in the early hours of the day,” he said. Meanwhile, three persons, including a housewife, were killed in two separate road accidents in Dinajpur and Gaibandha.
A housewife was killed after a bus crushed her at Hirok Mour on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway under Gobindaganj upazila in Gaibandha while she was crossing the road around 3:50pm.
The deceased was identified as Amina Begum, 33, wife of Mostafizur Rahman of nearby village Sakapla under Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha.
In another accident, two persons were killed when a bus hit a van at Bhushirbandar point on the Rangpur-Dinajpur highway under Chirirbandar upazila in Dinajpur.
The deceased were identified as Manik Chandra, 30, son of Sattyen Chandra of village Kachimia under Khansama upazila and Abdul Aziz, 35, son of Nazrul Islam of village Fotejongpur under Chirirbandar upazila in Dinajpur. In both cases, drivers and helpers of the killer buses along with their vehicles managed to escape the scenes soon after the accidents.
