Putin tops Forbes most powerful list

Russian President Vladimir Putin has topped Forbes’ annual list of the World’s Most Powerful People 2014.

This is the second year in a row that Forbes has declared Putin the top powerful man and made Obama the also-ran.

US President Obama and Chinese leader Xi Jinping ranked second and third respectively, while Pope Francis came in at No. 4.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel was fifth, making her the world’s most powerful woman, according to Forbes.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made his debut among the world's most powerful people, ranked 15th on the Forbes list.

Forbes has published the annual ranking of the World’s 72 Most Powerful People on Wednesday.

Trailing her was Fed chief Janet Yellin followed by Bill Gates and European Central Bank honcho Mario Draghi. 

Google’s Larry Page and Sergey Brin shared the No. 9 spot and were followed by British Prime Minister David Cameron, who was ranked tenth.
