The customs officials have detained an Italy-returned Bangladeshi with 6kg gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Detainee Tanjilur Rahman arrived at the airport around 11am on Tuesday.
The customs officials disclosed the matter in a press briefing at the airport premises in the afternoon.
The gold bars are worth Tk3 crore, said the customs officials.
Existing law allows a person to carry highest 200 grammes of gold from abroad paying the necessary duty at the airport while the passenger can bring highest two kilograms of gold by giving early notice to the authorities concerned and paying duty according to a circular of Bangladesh Bank.
