Gonojagoron Moncho has urged the government to immediately execute the verdict of Supreme Court that upheld the death penalty to Jamaat-e-Islami leader and former al-Badr man Kamaruzzaman.
Moncho spokesperson Imran H Sarkar made the demand immediately after the verdict was pronounced by the four-member Appellate Division bench headed by Justice SK Sinha on Monday morning.
Sarkar said: “The execution of the verdict will be able to remove the frustration that was sparked after Saydee’s verdict.”
Talking about Delawar Hossain Sayedee's verdict, he said: “The distrust that was established on the government will be removed if a review petition is filed against the tribunal's verdict that gave life time imprisonment to Sayedee.”
Imran also announced to bring out a countrywide joyous rally at 11am.
Earlier in the day, the four-member Appellate Division bench headed by Justice SK Sinha upheld the ICT verdict and gave death penalty to former al-Badr man Kamaruzzaman.
