A 12-year-old boy has been shot dead during a gun fight that took place between two groups of drug peddlers in Bokultola area of Narsingdi.
Quoting locals police said a gun fight had taken place between two groups of drug peddlers one led by Shafiq and another led by Bhuiyan Sohel over establishing supremacy in the area at 12 noon on Wednesday.
Swapan Mia, son of Khorshed Mia, a resident of Satirpara area in the district was caught in crossfire during an hour-long gun battle. Seven people were also injured during the gun battle.
On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, however they could not arrest anyone in this connection.
Of the injured, two have been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Soon after the incident, Police Super Sheikh Rafiqul Islam visited the spot. Police have been deployed in the area to avert any untoward incident.
