Chapainawabganj residents demand adequate vaccines, healthcare services

People of Chapainawabganj formed a human chain and staged a demonstration yesterday demanding adequate supply of vaccines and some other necessary healthcare services in Chapainawabganj General Hospital.

The protesters gathered under the banner of Sammilita Samajik Andolon in front of Shaheed Satu Hall yesterday morning.

President of the organisation Advocate Syed Shahjamal Mandal, Mushfiqur Rahman Titu, Faruk Ahammed, Badrul Alam and others spoke at the meeting. Speakers demanded that the government takes initiatives to provide the inhabitants of the district with proper healthcare services. After the demonstration the protesters sent a memorandum through the district commissioner to the health minister.

In he memorandum it was mentioned that people suffer for the low supply of vaccines for snake bite and rabies, lack of facilities for gallbladder operation, absence of gynecologist, high price of blood, bribery demanded by the staff for allocating bed or cabin and the middlemen.

The protesters demanded that the authority takes steps to remove the obstacles and improve services of the hospital. They also threatened to wage tougher movements from November 30 if the government does not fulfill their demands by then.
