Zero Degree all set to hit cinemas

Zero Degree, one of the most anticipated movies of the year starring Jaya Ahsan, Mahfuz Ahmed and Ruhee in lead roles, is all set to hit the cinemas soon. The film will be submitted to the censor board for certification shortly.

In this regard, Animesh Aich, the film’s writer and director, told the Dhaka Tribune: “The film will be released upon getting the nod from the censor board, sometime later this year or early next.”

The makers have already started their promotions for the film, starting with Facebook posts. Since, Animesh says, deadlines for most of the international festivals are over, they will begin by releasing it in local cinemas and may later plan its screenings in festivals taking place next year.

The movie weaves a complex story of love and lust, deception and revenge in ways that may surprise or shock most viewers.

Jaya Ahsan, known for her portrayal of unconventional characters, said she is not sure about how the audience is going to react to her role of a serial killer. “This character does not portray the typical protagonist or antagonist that you know, but lives in a morally grey area, and the audience will have a hard time identifying it as a positive or negative role.”

“It was a challenging task to say the least. I will be seen as a deranged serial killer and playing such a role took quite some effort,” she added.

Mahfuz, who plays a central role in the movie, said, “The audience will discover me differently as I changed my looks for the film. I am playing the character of a person who neither forgets nor forgives and is vengeful in nature.”

Other actors in the thriller include Iftekhar Zaib, Mir Rabbi, Tarique Anam Khan, Teli Samad and Iresh Zaker. The movie was made under the banner of Playhouse Productions.
