Three out of four senior officials yesterday replied to the show-cause notices issued by the Public Administration Ministry for taking freedom fighter certificates from the Liberation War Affairs Ministry by giving false information.
The three are Health Secretary Neaz Uddin Mia, former liberation war affairs secretary KH Masud Siddiqui, now officer on special duty and its former joint secretary Abul Kashem Talukder (OSD).
Public Service Commission’s Secretary AKM Amir Hossain is yet to submit his reply. He may submit today, the deadline for the submission of the reply.
Taking the decision on the replies of the four officials might be delayed as Senior Secretary of the Public Administration Ministry Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury is now abroad.
“The secretary will attend the office from November 2. The decision will be taken after his return,” an official said, seeking anonymity.
The Public Administration Ministry on October 13 served the show-cause notice on the officials and asked them to reply within 10 working days.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) found the four officials guilty of receiving the freedom fighter certificates apart from former senior secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office Molla Waheduzzaman, now the chairman of the Privatisation Commission.
The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs had already cancelled the certificates of the four officials. It also suspended the certificate of Molla Wahed and allowed him to appeal against the ministry’s decision.
