Two people have been killed and two others injured after a passenger bus shoved a battery –run auto-rickshaw near Kalihati area on Dhaka-Tangail Bangabandhu highway of the district on Monday.
The deceased are Shirin Begum, 36, wife of Lutfur Rahman hailed from Narandia village and the auto-rickshaw driver. However, the driver's identity couldn’t be known immediately.
The injured are Mehedi Hasan, 14 and Sathia, 3, children of deceased Shirin Begum.
Elenga highway police outpost sergeant Kamruzzaman Raj said: “A Dhaka-bound passenger bus rammed a Narandia-bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw near Kalihati area on Dhaka-Tangail Bangabandhu highway, leaving two people dead and two others injured.”
He said: “Shirin died on the spot. Later, auto-rickshaw driver, one of the injured, succumbed to his injuries at Tangail Medical College Hospital.”
The injured are being treated at the hospital, the official added.
