A Dhaka court has acquitted all seven accused including former bridges division secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan in the much-talked-about Padma Multipurpose Bridge graft case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Special Judge Md Zahirul Haque passed the order on Sunday afternoon after accepting the final report of the case filed by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).
The six others are former caretaker engineer Kazi Mohammad Ferdous, former executive engineer Riaz Ahmed Javed, deputy managing director Md Mostafa, foreign director Md Ismail, foreign vice-president Ramesh Shah and SNC-Lavalin’s former vice-president Kevin Wallace.
On September 14, ACC Deputy Director Mirza Jahidul Alam submitted the report to Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court.
CMM court sent the report to Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions court on September 19.
On December 17, 2012, ACC Deputy Director Abdullah Al Jahid filed the case with Banani police station accusing the seven on charges of conspiring to help SMC Lavalin win the Padma Bridge deal in exchange of bribes.
