The admission seekers have decided to submit a memorandum to the President, Abdul Hamid, who is also the chancellor of all the universities, on October 28.
The students made the announcement after observing their pre-announced protest rally peacefully at the Central Shaheed Minar premises on Saturday morning.
Earlier in the day, hundreds of admission seekers along with their guardians gathered at the Shaheed Minar premises at around 10am and staged protest, demanding the withdrawal of the decision of DU authorities to bar applicants from taking the admission test twice.
The police tried to disperse the protesting students from the area in order to maintain the law and order situation on the Dhaka University campus.
However, the law enforcers later allowed the students to observe their programme as they promised to maintain peace, said Saheb Ali, SI of Nilkhet police outpost.
Dhaka University acting proctor Amzad Ali told the Dhaka Tribune: “The protesters did not take any permission to stage their rally in the area. We are enquiring about the matter and taking necessary measures.”
Earlier on October 19, five of the demonstrators were released after a brief detention on bond that they would not hold any more programmes in the course of the day.
Later, the students and guardians announced to stage a protest rally at Shaheed Minar on October 25 if their demands are not met by October 24.
