Local administration has imposed section 144 in Pakundia upazila as two factions of local Awami League called meeting at the same venue on same time on Saturday.
The administration imposed ban on holding any meeting, procession or rally in and around Pakundia Pilot Girls High School, Pakundia Pilot High School, Pakundia Degree College, Women College, Pakundia bazar, Poura area and nearby areas in the upazila.
Pakundia thana Officer-in-Charge Golam Rabbani said a group of AL activists led by upazila unit Joint convenor and also Upazila Parishad Chairman Rafiqul Islam Renu called a meeting at Pakundia Pilot Girls High School at 10am on Saturday while another fraction of BCL and Sramik League, supporting by local lawmaker Advocate Suhrab Uddin called a meeting at same venue on same time.
“Pakundia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mosharraf Hossain imposed section 144 to avert any untoward situation. The restriction was enforced from Friday midnight and it will be continued until further order.”
Administration also deployed additional police personnel in the areas to avert any untoward situation.
