Road communications of Bhola with other parts of the country remained suspended yesterday as transport workers continued strike for second consecutive day, causing untold miseries to the passengers.
Bus owners and workers of the district went on strike for indefinite period on Wednesday following a clash between workers of autorickshaw and bus in Charfassion upazila of the district.
General Secretary of Bhola Bus Owner’s Association Abul Kalam said they would continue their strike until their demands were meet.
About 15 people were injured when autorickshaw workers locked into a clash with bus workers at Charfassion bus stand area over carrying passengers around 1:30pm.
Of the injured, nine people were taken to Charfashion Upazila Health Complex.
During the clash autorickshaw workers vandalised eight buses.
Protesting the attack on bus drivers and workers, the bus workers blocked several roads in Charfassion, Lalmohon and district bus stand by placing logs and torching tyres.
Later, police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Md Selim Reza, deputy commissioner of the district, said they were talking to transport workers so that they withdraw the strike.
