BBC Media Action launches new weekly radio magazine programme

“Dosh Unisher Mor” (Crossroads at 10 to 19), a new 100-episode weekly radio magazine programme for adolescents launches on today on Radio Today. Produced by BBC Media Action under the Generation Breakthrough project “Dosh Unisher Mor” will be broadcast on Radio Today (FM 89.6) every Friday at 9:45 pm.

Through entertainment the programme will feature, issues related to adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights, and gender based violence.

The programme is being made with funds from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN), through UNFPA and Plan International, Bangladesh.

This project is focused on building healthy relationships for primary prevention of gender based violence (GBV) and meeting the sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) needs of adolescents in Bangladesh. In this regard, the project will provide an increased access to comprehensive A-SRHR and GBV prevention information, so that the adolescents grow as responsible, non-violent, healthy and happy adults, as future partners, fathers, mothers and careers, with gender equitable attitudes and practices.

Taking this into account, the Country Director of BBC Media Action, Bangladesh, and the Executive Producer of the programme, Charlotte Imbert said: “Our focus is giving adolescents access to information on their sexual and reproductive health and rights, and gender based violence in an accessible way so that they do not feel shy in talking about their issues with responsible people. Our outputs cover three areas: radio, outreach materials and interactive games for web, Facebook, Mobile and offline PC version.”
