The 28th American Cinematheque Award has been given to Matthew McConaughey. The award aims to recognise those who have made extraordinary contributions to the world of motion pictures.
The chairman of American Cinematheque Rick Nicita said that Matthew received the award for being the epitome of what a Hollywood star should be, an adventurous, joyous and ever-growing talent combined with matinee-idol looks and an unshakeable sense of who he is and what he stands for.”
The evening took place at The Beverly Hilton Hotel and saw Matthew’s former co-stars and fellow Hollywood friends come to the evening to celebrate with him. McConaughey’s stunning wife Camila Alves was by the actor’s side for this special moment in his career.
Jimmy Kimmel hosted the ceremony which saw the likes of Reese Witherspoon and Kate Hudson impersonate McConaughey.
The award also comes after McConaughey has had an incredible year with a Best Actor Oscar under his belt for his performance in the “Dallas Buyers Club.”
