Chittagong Nursing College has been closed for an indefinite period following the students’ demonstration over the result debacle issue.
The students were asked to leave the dormitory by 3pm on Wednesday.
The decision came from a meeting of the academic committee and deans committee of the college around 1pm on Tuesday to evade possible disorder on the campus, Principal Hosne Ara Begum told the Dhaka Tribune.
However, the protesting students said they would not leave the dormitory and continue their protest programme until their demands are fulfilled.
Earlier, the college students started staging demonstration on the campus following disasters in their result which was published on Monday.
They besieged the college principal's office for five hours and confined the principal in her office for two hours demanding reevaluation of their result and removal of their college principal.
Later, the principal was released after the students were quelled by the assurance of college authorities.
College sources said the result of different years have been published on Monday where a total 117 students out of 257 successfully came out.
The students alleged that college authorities took the examinations without completing the syllabus.
There was no balance between the question paper mark distribution and time distribution, they also alleged.
One Pinky Chouwdhury who failed the third year final examination complained that the authorities makes the result debacle intentionally every year as the college students protest the irregularities and corruptions of the principal.
Besides, the authority on Monday assured students to sit in a meeting over the result disaster however none of the college authorities were seen in their offices during the students' sit-in programme, added Pinky.
There was no chance to reevaluate the result as Chittagong University (CU) has published it, said the principal.
Chittagong Nursing College is an affiliated college under CU, she added.
