An 11 year old girl has been murdered after rape at Biai Duar village under Karihata union of Kapasia upazila in the district on Friday night.
The victim is Popy Akhter,11, a daughter of late Mokhlesur Rahman of the village.
Law enforcers arrested Sharif Hossain,28, son of late Atar Ali of the village, in this connection, Officer-in-Charge of Kapasia police station Ahsan Ullah endorsed the information to the Dhaka Tribune.
"Victim's uncle Kajol filed a case with the police station around as 3:30pm on Friday as her family members could not trace her from Thursday night," he added.
Family sources said, Popy went missing on Thursday night.
Later, police recovered her corpse from a bush near her residence around 9pm after being informed by a local named Alauddin around 6pm, the OC said.
