As part of the “BotTala-RangaMela 2014” festival, Theatrex Bangladesh will stage “Dokkhina Sundari” on October 30 at the National Theatre in Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The play theatricalizes the epic canvas of primordial living and eternal aspirations in the Sundarbans — the world’s largest mangrove forest famous for its unique bio-geo-cultural diversity. The story unfolds how the locality is being endangered by the effects of globalisation.
The play was written by Shahman Moishan and directed by Sudip Chakroborthy, starring Nusrat Sarmin, Syeda Ifat Ara, Mst Mahjabin Islam, Atikur Rahman and Jumman Sadiq in major roles.
“Dokkhina Sundari” was already staged on the inaugural evening of the Tin Forest Theatre Festival in Glasgow, as part of the 20th Commonwealth Games 2014.
