BCL men assault journalist in Sylhet

Chhatra League activists have allegedly stabbed a journalist in front of MC College campus auditorium in Sylhet.

The victim is Abdullah Al Noman, Sylhet Staff Correspondent of Banglanews24.com and also third year student of Sociology department in MC College.

Injured Abdullah, who is admitted to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, said "About eight to ten BChhatra League activists led by Saidul and Ovi attacked me when I went to the college to collect my certificate around 1pm on Thursday.

“They hit me with sharp weapons in my head and hand. The men who did not have any weapon, hit me with their waist belt."

Abdullah said: "I ran to Political Science building to save my life. But they followed me there and keep beating me. At one point, one of the attackers, Anik, rescued me and sent me to the hospital."

Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (south) Zedan Al Musa and Officer-in-Charge of Shahporan police station, Shakawat Hossain inspected the spot.

ADC Zedan said: "We are investigating the matter to find out the reason behind the attack.”

Police has conducted several drives to detain the culprits, he added.
