A Bangladeshi cattle trader has been shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) members at Gazipur border area in Satkhira early Thursday.
The deceased is Aiyub Ali, 35, son of Shamsher Ali of Boikari village in the district.
Quoting the locals, Satkhira BGB 38 Battalion acting commander Major Najir Ahmed said: “BSF troops from Jaynagar camp opened fire on some Bangladeshi cattle traders near the main pillar no 6 in the bordering area when they were returning illegally from India, leaving Aiyub dead on the spot.”
“A team of BGB was sent to the area on information,” Major Najir said.
Aiyub’s body was taken to his village, he added.
