A teenage girl was rescued by the police on Tuesday night from Netrokona, 57 days after her abduction from Gazipur.
The victim, aged about 17, was a class VII student of Chandana High School in Gazipur city.
Police arrested Selim Mia, 22, son of Alam Fakir of Mona village under the Sadar upazila of Netrakona, for his alleged involvement in the abduction.
Sub-Inspector Mobarak Hossain of Vogra police outpost under Joydebpur police station said the girl was abducted on August 18 when she was returning home from school. Selim along with 5-6 cohorts forcibly picked-up the girl into a microbus, he added.
Later, the mother of the girl filed a case with Joydepur police station in this connection. SI Mobarak said police raided the house of Selim in Netrakona after receiving a tip-off on Tuesday night and found the girl.
Selim used to work at a factory in the area and lived in the house of the female student as a tenant, he added.
