Photo Editor of the Daily Observer Azizur Rahim Peu has died of cardiac arrest in the capital on Monday night.
He was 49.
Family sources said he felt chest pain at 3 am at his residence at West Dhanmondi. He was immediately rushed to the Square Hospital and the duty doctor declared him dead, reports BSS.
His namaz-e-janaza was held at Jatiya Press Club after Johr prayers.
Prime Minister's information adviser and Daily Observer editor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha Abul Kalam Azad, president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and CEO of Boishakhi Television Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, BFUJ secretary general Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan, president of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) Altaf Mahmud, journalist leader Ruhul Amin Gazi, general secretary of National Press Club Syed Abdal Ahmed, attended the janaza, among others.
Peu left behind wife, a daughter and a son.
He worked with different daily newspapers like the daily Ittefaq, Shokaler Khobor and daily Observer in his long photojournalistic career. He was associated with Pathshala, a photography training institute and was a member of Bangladesh Photographic Society (BPS).
Peu was also the editor and publisher of "Baher Shongbad", a daily which was published from Rangpur.
