3 injured in Comilla 'gunfight'

Three people have been injured in a “gunfight” between police and suspected robbers at Racecourse in Comilla.

Of the injured, Pichchi Shumon, 25, received bullet wound while Sub-Inspector Mofiz Uddin and Special Ansar Ayat Ali were injured when robbers hurled bricks and bats at them on Monday night.

Comilla Kotwali Model police station SI Mofiz Uddin said: “Pichchi Shumon was planning a robbery when police raided the area around 8:30pm.”

“Sensing our presence, they opened fire at us,” he said.

In retaliation, the law enforcers fired back that left Pichchi Shumon bullet wounded. He was admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital.

The SI said Shumon is an accused in 12 cases including murder.
