Nawshaba lands first major movie role

Actress Quzi Nawshaba Ahmed has recently landed her first major movie role having appeared in minor roles in three films previously. The film – “Pratiruddho” – will also star newcomer Amit Sinha.

Khijir Hayat Khan of “Jagoo” fame will direct the movie. 

An excited Nawshaba told the Dhaka Tribune, “I have always cherished the dream of being part of a movie where I can act, if in a glamorous role, to my heart’s content. The character in this film is just what I was looking for.”

The small-screen actress is currently taking preparation for her role which involves dancing, among other things. “Definitely the director took a bit of risk casting new actors, and we don’t want to disappoint him,” she added.

Previously, Nawshaba worked in “Chuye Dile Mon,” “Udhao” and “Underconstruction” and is confident that her new movie will play a crucial role in shaping up her career in the film industry. The shooting of the film will start in December.

Nawshaba was recently praised for her role in the hit television play “Sikander Box Ekhon Bandarban,” in which she played a girl named “Pakhi.” In this regard, she said, “I didn’t expect to see the kind of reaction that the drama generated. Everyone praised the plot and acting. Even I met children on the streets calling me Pakhi. This is eally amazing.”

Beside acting, Nawshaba also writes lyrics occasionally. She penned all the songs for her husband Ehsan Rahman Zia working on an album titled  “Areas of Blindness.” Together, they also formed a musical project called The Scarlet Sky.
