Two bogies of an intercity train have derailed near at Talshohor junction under Ashuganj upazila in Brahmanbaria.
Following the accident, communications between Dhaka and Chittagong, Dhaka and Sylhet have been halted.
Md Mainul Haque, assistant station master of Brahmanbaria railway station, said: “Two bogies of Dhaka-bound Upakul Express snapped in the double track near Talshohor junction around 11:20am on Sunday.”
This derailment compelled Dhaka-bound Subarna Express to stay at Brahmanbaria railway station, Kalni Express at Paghachon junction and Chittagong-bound Mahanagar Pravati at Bhairab Bazar junction, he added.
He said: “A relief train with a rescue team has already left from Akhaura junction to the spot.”
It will take at least two hours to bring the train on track and available for plying, added Mainul.
