Voyage of Visuals unveiled at Drik

With a view to disproving the popular notions about engineers’ apparent lack of creative imagination and inventiveness, the BUET Photographic Society presented its new collection of portraits at a three-day exhibition inaugurated at the Drik Gallery yesterday.

Titled “Voyage of Visuals: Portraiture,” the show features 60 individual portraits and eight photo series by a group of 56 photographers from around the country.

From the mysterious journey through the life of the Dargah, the vibrant festival of comic cons, the classic grammatical photo of a close-up face to objective self-portraits, the exhibition attempts to capture life in its many dimensions and take the art of portrait photography to new heights.

Jashim Salam, curator and one of the judges of the exhibition, said, “It has been a great experience for me, MR Hasan and Latif Hossain, the other two judges, to go through these stunning works. Photography, truly, has changed its course and become more modern and engaging than ever before.”
