Three Bangladeshi peacekeepers received injuries when a rebel group ambush their convoy in Central African Republic on Thursday, said an ISPR statement released yesterday.
Of them, Sainik Md Iqbal Hossain of 18 BIR was immediately rushed to a French hospital in critical condition. The other two peacekeepers, Sainik Jasim Uddin of 29 BIR and Sainik Moazzem Hussain of 23 East Bengal, received treatment at Bangladesh Medical (BANMED) Hospital.
The statement said the ambush took place some 1.5 kilometer away from United Nations Multinational Integrated Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA) transit camp at 6:05pm. The convoy was returning from MINUSCA Force Headquarters.
Apart from that, the ambush also killed a Pakistani peacekeeper and injured five others.
