Unidentified miscreants have slaughtered a youth in broad daylight at Dhormopur village of Kochashohor union under Gaibandhaganj upazila of Gaibandha.
The deceased is Ujjal,22, son of Ataur Rahman of the village.
Officer-in-Charge of Gaibandhaganj police station ABM Jahidul Islam said: “Some unidentified miscreants equipped with lethal weapons swooped on Ujjal and slaughtered him at 12 noon, while he was on his way back to home from Bonatola Bazar.”
“Being informed, a team of police rushed to the spot and recovered his body. Preparation for filling a case is underway right now.”
Family members claimed that he might have been killed following rivalry over love affair.
They said Ujjal had a love affair with a local girl. Recently, the parents of the girl came to know about their love affair and gave him death threat.
Chairman of Kochashohor union Abu Sufian said: “Ujjal was in love with a neighboring girl. The relatives of the girl threatened to kill him and confined him in his residence for last two weeks.”
“Ujjal went to Bonatola Bazar today after two weeks and the miscreants killed him.”
The chairman further said they tried to settle the issue earlier but the relatives of the girl denied to accept it.
