The body of language movement hero Abdul Matin has been handed over to Dhaka Medical College Hospital authorities for research as he had donated his body through a will in 2006.
Wife of the language movement veteran Gulbadan Nesa handed over the body to DMCH Principal Shafiul Alam at the Shaheed Minar premises at 1:47pm on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, his body was kept at the Shaheed Minar premises from 12pm to 1:40pm to pay homage.
People from all walks of life have paid their last tribute to Matin at Central Shaheed Minar.
Abdul Matin died at the ICU of BSMMU on Wednesday morning at the age of 88.
The language hero was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on August 19, after he suffered a stroke that partially paralysed him.
Matin was suffering from old age complications for the past 17 years.
