A case was filed against 10 people over the fire incident in Tangai that burnt a woman and her three daughters alive on Tuesday.
Jahangir Hossain, 25, was made prime accused in the case.
Md Mofazzol Hossain, brother of deceased Hasna Begum, filed the case with Mirzapur police station on Tuesday night.
Mirzapur police station Assistant Sub-Inspector Md Saidur Rahman confirmed the Dhaka Tribune about the filling of the case.
A woman and her three daughters were burnt alive after miscreants set their house ablaze while they were asleep at Sohagpara village under Mirzapur upazila.
The deceased are Hasna Begum, 30, her daughters Morium, 13, Mim, 10, and eight-year-old Moli.
Terming the incident as killing, Superintendent of Police in Tangail Saleh Mohammad Tanvir told the Dhaka Tribune that neighbour Jahangir had been giving proposal to marry Morium since a couple of days.
"He [Jahangir] might have put the house on fire being refused from Morium," the SP said.
Jahangir had been proposing to marry Mariam for two months and after the refusal he beaten Mariam and her mother four days ago, Abdur Rahim, member of Gorai union parishad told the Dhaka Tribune.
