The people of 40 villages in Chandpur will celebrate Eid-ul-Azha on Saturday following the calendar of Saudi Arabia.
The main Eid congregation will be held at Shadra village.
The villages are Shadra, Bolakhal, Olipur, Barakul, Shameshpur, Jakni, Ramchandrapur, Sreepur, Belcho, Rajargaon under Hajiganj upazila; Shachanmegh, Bigha, Ubharampur, Bajpara, Khila, Ottali, Balithuba, Shola, Rupsha, Goalbaor, Noahat, Bashara, Telishair, Paunsair, Kamata, Surangachaul, Paikpara, Mulpara, Munsirhat, Bholacho, Kaitara under Faridganj upazila; Aswinpur, Nayergaon, Panchani, Dashani, Mohanpur, Ekhlaspur and Beltali under Matlab upazila.
It is learned that the late Peer Mufti Ishak Chowdhury had started observing religious festivals following the calendar of Saudi Arabia since 1928.
After his death, his sons started following the policy.
