Urmila’s Puja and Eid ventures

Small-screen actress Urmila Shrabonti Kar will be seen in a number of dramas on the occasion Durga Puja and Eid-ul-Azha. Her puja special, “Kashfuler Din,” will be aired today on NTV at 11:30pm.

Written and directed by Gautam Koiri, the drama stars Maznun Mizan, Borshon and Urmila in lead roles while actor Abul Hayat plays Urmila’s father. In this regard, Urmila said, “I’ve always wanted to work in Durga Puja specials out of a sense of commitment to my religion.”

Earlier, she worked in a drama in which she played Durga, the Hindu goddess. “Usually the stories of Rabindranath Tagore and Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay are dramatised in the puja specials, but this time Gautam Koiri chose a contemporary story.”

The story of the drama revolves around a fine arts student who maintains a modern lifestyle. She visits her ancestral village to celebrate Durga Puja, with one of her close friends, and falls in love with a craftsman who makes Durga idols.

Urmila appeared in a number of dramas for this Eid, including “Oporanho,” directed by Shakhayat Manik, which also starred Partho Barua and Tarin. “Alal Dulal r Haji Chan,” directed by Pallob Biswas, and a special seven-episode drama titled “Rohuchor,” directed by Ali Fida Ekram Tojo, are among her other works.
