A youth has allegedly committed suicide by setting himself on fire in Rahmatpur area under Babuganj upazila of Barisal.
The deceased is Russell Hossain, 26, son of Moktar Hossain, of Rahmatpur area.
Russell succumbed to his injuries at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) early Thursday.
Barisal Airport police station Officer-in-Charge Shaheduzzaman said: “Russell was a day labourer. He saved some money from his daily earning and deposited those to his mother.”
“Russell poured kerosene on his body and set himself on fire after came to know that his mother spent the money in order to meet family needs. The family members admitted him to the SBMCH on Tuesday afternoon.”
SBMCH Ward Master Abul Kalam said Russell succumbed to his injuries at the hospital in the early hours of Thursday.
