Fire gutted 10 establishments in Noakhali

A total of 10 establishments have been burnt in a devastating fire at Sonaimuri bazar in Noakhali district on Sunday.

The establishments are Sonaimuri Blind Welfare office, primary teachers' association office, mattress making shop, tea stall, furniture, grocery and medicine shops.

Ashraful Islam, officer-in-charge of Sonaimuri police station told the Dhaka Tribune that the fire originated from a tea stall around 10am and hastily engulfed the adjacent areas. 

On information, two units of fire service from Chaumuhani and Maijdee Court rushed to the spot and doused the fire with the help of locals.

Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan, secretary to Sonaimuri Blind Welfare Association also confirmed that the office was gutted by the fire.

Md Kamal Ahmed, station officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense said damages were not estimated immediately.

However, properties worth about Tk50-60 lakh might be gutted in the fire, he added.
