Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Benazir Ahmed has said cattle skin-loaded trucks will not be allowed to leave the capital till three days after Eid.
The DMP boss made the statement while briefing media about the overall security measures to be taken ahead of Durga Puja and Eid-ul-Azha, at DMP media centre on Sunday afternoon.
Benazir Ahmed said the decision was taken to prevent smuggling of sacrificial animals' skin after Eid.
He also urged the city people to leave Dhaka in phases to spend Eid holidays with their dear ones.
"We do not have sufficient road infrastructures to manage the rush of thousands of people at a time. So I request the home-bound people to leave the capital for Eid holidays in phases," Benazir said.
He also said police will remain vigilant for ensuring security of the empty houses, banks, hospitals and other institutions during the vacation.
