The World Tourism Day 2014 is being celebrated in the country as elsewhere in the globe with the theme of "Tourism and Community Development".
Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB), the National Tourism Organisation and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation under the supervision of the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry have chalked out various programmes to celebrate the day.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages wishing success of the day.
In his message, the President urged all concerned to ensure participation of local people in tourism activities for the sustainable development of the sector.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message, said her government has been implementing a number of programmes for the development of the country's tourism sector.
The BTB is celebrating the day by arranging colourful rallies and discussion meetings on various aspects of tourism in Dhaka and different districts with tourist attractions.
