Ayesha Foyez, mother of eminent writers Humayun Ahmed and Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, has passed away at a capital hospital on Saturday morning.
She was 84.
Family members said she died at Labaid Hospital in the capital's Dhanmondi around 7am. Earlier on September 12, she was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as her condition deteriorated.
Her son Zafar Iqbal told a private television channel that her Namaz-e-Janaza will be held in the capital's Pallabi in the afternoon and she will be buried in her home district Netrakona on Sunday.
Cartoonist Ahsan Habib, the youngest son of Ayesha Foyez said his mother was suffering from several complications including kidney diseases.
Ayesha Foyez's eldest son noted literateur Humayun Ahmed died on July 19, 2012, at Bellevue Hospital in New York in the US after an eleven-month struggle against colorectal cancer.
She was born on March 23, 1930 and got married in 1944. Her police officer husband Faizur Rahman embraced martyrdom during the Liberation War in 1971.
