Police in northern Greece are investigating reports that a woman woke up to find herself buried in a coffin, only to die before being rescued.
However, she had earlier been declared dead by doctors treating her for cancer. A doctor who was at the scene and examined the woman's body, said she had been dead for hours and could not have been revived.
Several people visiting the cemetery, near Thessaloniki, told police they had heard banging and muffled shouting from inside the woman's grave, an hour after her funeral yesterday.
By the time the coffin was dug up, the woman, 45, was found dead.
